Send My Love to Anyone is a newsletter on all things writing established in 2021 where author and publisher Kathryn Mockler writes about the writing process and other troubles and invites guest writers and artists to share their work, essays, or excerpts.

Each issue, all subscribers receive a curated list of readings, viewings, calls, news, and more in Gatherings, a post by me and/or guest posts, Kirby’s column The First Time, and Words Count, a new section on craft.

Free subscribers receive the newsletter in their inbox and posts are available to everyone on the SMLTA site for one month after publication.

Paying subscribers have full access to the SMLTA archive and paid subscriber-only posts. Sign up for a year and receive a 17% discount on the monthly subscription rate.

Subscribers can expect one to two emails per month eight months a year. One email will be for the current issue and the other for the Gatherings section.

Submissions

Pitches for reviews of small/independent press books are welcome. If you have a title that you’re interested in reviewing, please email me with writing samples. Honorariums listed below.

Paid subscribers of Send My Love to Anyone are welcome to send along their book or event info, press releases, or arcs for consideration for excerpt publication or mention in Gatherings.

SMLTA is does not accept unsolicited submissions of poetry or fiction at this time.


Honorariums for original unpublished works

Note: SMLTA does not pay for excerpts of published works or interviews.

Capsule Reviews (200-400 words) - $25 - Short pieces describing a book you loved.

Poetry - $75

Fiction, Nonfiction (under 1500 words) - $75

Artwork - $75-$125 (depending on number of images or length)

Words Count (craft essays under 1000 words) - $50

Fiction or Nonfiction or Reviews* (1500+ words) - $125

*I am interested in analytical reviews of books or films or art.


About Kathryn Mockler

Kathryn Mockler is the author of the story collection Anecdotes (Book*hug Press, 2023), five books of poetry, and several short films and experimental videos. She co-edited the print anthology Watch Your Head: Writers and Artists Respond to the Climate Crisis (Coach House Books, 2020) and she runs Send My Love to Anyone, a literary newsletter, which was a Substack featured publication in 2023. She is an associate professor in the Writing Department at the University of Victoria where she teaches screenwriting and fiction.
