Kathryn, this is gorgeous, brave stuff, and a lot of it, especially from young years, sounds familiar from my world. Should it be reassuring to hear of a tongue-frozen child? Because it is, in a maybe-I-wasn't-so-weird sort of way. I did eventually figure out when it came to readings/performances etc that audience members - like, all those people who take the time and trouble to turn out - are almost entirely good-willed and good-wishing. I also eventually figured out that a certain level of anxiety can be useful and helpful. But saying no is also a good skill (although it's one I may have over-learned). At any rate - well done, you!
